Our research interests

Hungarian Studies belong to our most important research interests. In this field, our research traditionally concentrates on cultural contacts, issues of Central European multilingualism, multiculturalism and transnational spaces within the linguo-culturally diverse area of the old Kingdom of Hungary as well as with Hungarian diasporas in Austria and elsewhere.

Finno-Ugric (Uralic) studies cover a wide variety of linguistic and other approaches to a language family in Northern Eurasia including not only Hungarian, Finnish, and Estonian but also a wide range of minority languages in Northern Europe and Russia: comparative-historical and typological research as well as issues of sociolinguistics (minority languages, endangerment and revitalization, etc.) and applied linguistics (teaching and learning of languages etc.).

The information about our projects and research topics, publications and electronic resources and our conferences and events is mainly available in German.
